Tunisian food, unlike other North African cuisine, can be fairly spicy. Harissa, a hot red pepper sauce made of red chilli peppers and garlic, is used extensively as seasoning in Tunisian cooking. Tomatoes are also widely used in Tunisian cuisine.

International cuisine is also widely available if you prefer to stick to fish and chips, pizza or similar.

There are a variety of interesting local Tunisian wines and beers to try, and for an after dinner drink try Thibarine, a very sweet date liqueur.
